We now concentrate on a small section of the map, where Annie and Grok are racing to the Future labyrinth...
Jen's Turn 2
During the Move phase, Jen moves Annie and Kit Carson. Annie moves four spaces with her 6 move points. Each Clear
space costs Annie 1 move point. The Building space costs 3 move points.
During the Reinforce phase. Jen brings on Siennya. She arrives elsewhere, in a #6 Dome.
Sam's Turn 2
Sam moves Grok 6 move points, into the Building.
During Opportunity Fire, Annie pounces. Jen reveals the Gyroneedler. Annie has a clear shot at Grok as he is moving, in the Clear space
beyond the Buildings.
Jen will be rolling two dice to see if the attack hits. If it does hit, she will roll again to determine damage.
Jen compares Annie's yellow Point rating, to Grok's blue Stealth. On the challenge chart, yellow versus blue = 9. This means Jen needs to
roll 9 or less to hit. She rolls 7 and hits.
Jen now rolls for damage. The Gyroneedler's Penetration is blue, while Grok's Armor is green. Blue versus green gives a challenge number
of 6.
Jen rolls 4. This is less than the challenge number, so she Passed. On a Pass, the Gyroneedler does its full 2 damage to Grok. Grok has 6
Health left.
During the Reinforce phase. Sam brings on Spartacus. He arrives elsewhere, in a #3 Dome.
Through the remainder of this tutorial, it is assumed that the players are also moving and adventuring with all of their
characters. But we will concentrate only on Annie and Grok...
Jen's Turn 3
Annie could stay and fire in her Fire phase. But, she would not be able to move, and Grok would catch her. So, she moves at full
speed into the labyrinth.
Sam's Turn 3
Grok follows Annie into the labyrinth. However, he does not want to be shot by Annie again. So, he hangs back one space, keeping
the cavern walls between him and Annie.
Jen's Turn 4
Find the red Future guardian deck, Pull out Three Skree In a Space Bar and Negotiations.
Jen moves Annie onto her guardian position (indicated by the Team White marker). During the Adventure phase, Annie challenges the
guardian.
Jen flips over the top Future guardian card. It is Three Skree In a Space Bar, a Blue Strength challenge. Annie's Strength is Blue. So, she
needs a 7 to Squeak. Jen rolls a 5 a Pass. So:
- The guardian is defeated. The Three Skree card is placed under the Future guardian deck. The Team White marker is moved one space
toward the labyrinth entrance.
- Jen draws one equipment card and places it under Annie, face down so Sam cannot see it. It is the Flamethrower. Annie does not have
the Strength to use the Flamethrower. But, if she can get to Kit Carson, she can hand it off to him.
- Annie is then dismissed. Jen rolls a 1. She places Annie in the #1 Dome close to the Colonial labyrinth.
Sam's Turn 4
Grok reaches the Team Black marker. He challenges the Guardian. Sam flips the next Future guardian card. It is Negotiations a blue Wits
challenge. Grok's Wits rating is black. Black vs. blue = 5. But, Grok is Future, so he gains a +1, to 6.
Sam rolls 6 a Squeak. A Squeak happens when the roll exactly equals the challenge number.
So, Grok draws a white equipment card, then Jen banishes Grok (the red boot). She rolls a 5, and places Grok in a faraway #5 Dome.
The Negotiations card remains on the top of the Future guardian deck. The next character of either team who challenges the Future
labyrinth must confront Negotiations.
The game continues until the alarm sounds...
At game end, the labyrinths look like that shown to the right.
Team White's marker is ahead in the Modern and Colonial labyrinth. So, Jen receives 2 points.
Team Black's marker is ahead in the Ancient labyrinth. So, Sam receives 1 point.
Both Siennya and Kit Carson were killed. Sam lost no characters, so he receives 1 point for having more characters survive.
Jen has 2 victory points, and so does Sam. The game ends in a tie.
